Provides or obtains training and support for problem-solving courts and other court personnel regarding evidence-based practices for treatment.Ĭoordinates and communicates with court personnel, system users, providers of data, and others about the treatment elements related to various problem-solving court operations. Maintains ongoing communication among agencies and branches of government on behavioral health treatment issues. Supports and participates in statewide efforts to develop a treatment system that is capable of effectively treating people with co-occurring substance use and mental disorders in the most integrated manner possible. Represents Iowa Judicial Branch and leads a variety of committees and workgroups. Provides analysis and recommendations regarding behavioral health proposals, rules, or policies.Īdvises on behavioral health issues such as community sentencing alternatives, competency evaluation, competency restoration and involuntary commitments. Provides leadership and oversight of behavioral health related initiatives and projects.Ĭoordinates all aspects of Sequential Intercept Model mapping in court communities or regions across the state. ![]() The Council is comprised of key stakeholders who will help examine and identify strategies at the intersection points between individuals with mental illness and the courts The position is located in the State Court Administration and reports directly to the State Court Administrator or his/her designee. The Statewide Behavioral Health Manager simultaneously serves in multiple roles including leadership, facilitation, and in a supportive capacity such as serving as the primary staff for the State Mental Health Advisory Council. The Statewide Behavioral Health Manager is responsible for working with state and community level stakeholders to identify and implement improvements in court responses to individuals with serious mental illness. ![]()
